Katharine, Duchess of Kent’s will has been disclosed, revealing her substantial wealth that has been allocated to her offspring and specific charitable organizations. The beloved Duchess passed away in September 2025 at the age of 92, surrounded by her family at Wren House in Kensington Palace.
After a span of 10 months, probate records made public on Monday indicate that the majority of her seven-figure estate has been bequeathed to her three children: George Windsor, known as the Earl of St Andrews, Lady Helen Taylor, and Lord Nicholas Windsor.
The probate documents disclose that the Duchess, who was wed to the late Queen’s cousin, the Duke of Kent for 64 years, left a sum of £1,433,696 in the UK, which was eventually reduced to a net worth of £1,433,206 following the settlement of debts.
Furthermore, the late Duchess designated a donation of £10,000 to the charity Future Talent Musicians, an organization she co-founded in 2004 to support talented young musicians from underprivileged backgrounds. Additionally, she allocated legacies of £5,000 each to her nine godchildren.
All her personal possessions, encompassing jewelry, furniture, and various household items, have been inherited by her husband, the Duke of Kent, with a provision in her will for him to distribute the items as per her wishes.
The probate records indicate that her will was formalized on October 5, 2022, under the name ‘Katharine Kent’, witnessed by a personal assistant and an occupational therapist. Notably, the will specified that her interest in a property in Edwardes Square, Kensington, be passed on to her grandson.
Moreover, the Duchess directed that the income from her family trust, the Worsley Settlement, be granted to her husband, the Duke of Kent, for the duration of his lifetime. While the wills of senior Royal Family members are typically sealed for at least 90 years, the Duchess’s will was made public due to her withdrawal from royal duties in 2002.
Following her demise in the previous year, tributes were led by the Prince and Princess of Wales, acknowledging the Duchess’s enduring contributions to the Royal Family. William and Kate expressed their condolences and praised the Duchess’s philanthropic endeavors, particularly her support for various causes and her passion for music.
