Eurostar passengers faced a challenging situation when their journey from Paris to Amsterdam was disrupted by a technical issue during a heatwave. The train, traveling from Gare du Nord in Paris to Amsterdam, came to a stop near Fresnoy-le-Luat (Oise) due to overheating problems, leaving passengers without power or air conditioning for over eight hours. Frustrated travelers shared their experiences on social media, expressing their dismay at the extended delay.
Responding to the incident, Eurostar acknowledged the technical problem caused by the extreme heatwave conditions. Emergency services, including police, firefighters, and civil protection crews, were called to assist passengers, providing water and support, as reported by the Daily Star. A replacement service arrived at 12:30 am the next day, allowing passengers to continue their journey to Brussels. Some passengers completed their trip to Amsterdam by alternative means, such as buses or taxis.
Eurostar’s Chief Operating Officer, Amar Chaabi, expressed apologies to the affected passengers and emphasized the priority given to customer safety throughout the incident. He praised the collaborative efforts of the teams involved in managing the situation and ensuring passengers reached their destinations. Chaabi reassured passengers that a thorough analysis of the incident would be conducted to enhance customer service and prevent similar disruptions in the future.
