Primark has initiated a new campaign by reducing prices on numerous popular items. Customers can now enjoy discounts on various products, such as cotton-rich jeans priced at £9, pure-cotton pyjamas starting from £7, as well as viral boyfriend PJs for women and kids now priced at £13 and £8, respectively.
The price reductions extend to children’s ranges, where tops and bottoms are available for as low as £2 each. These new prices are effective immediately on the latest ranges in stores and will carry over to the upcoming autumn/winter collection.
In addition to the price cuts, Primark has enhanced the quality, fit, and style of its product ranges, and has made it easier for customers to locate the discounted items in stores through clearer signage.
Matt Houston, Chief Customer Officer at Primark, emphasized the company’s commitment to offering affordable fashion without compromising on style or quality. He highlighted how important value is to customers and expressed confidence in Primark’s reputation for providing great value fashion for over five decades.
Recent sales figures from Primark show a 1% increase in UK sales, with steady like-for-like growth. The company attributed fluctuations in performance to factors like the Middle East conflict affecting consumer sentiment and unseasonable weather in certain months. However, improved weather conditions in June contributed to stronger trading results.
Associated British Foods (ABF), the owner of Primark, announced plans to separate the retail business by the end of 2027. The split will result in both companies being listed on the FTSE 100, with Wittington Investments retaining majority stakes in each. The separation is expected to incur around £75 million in one-off separation and transaction costs, with potential synergy losses estimated at under £45 million post-deal.
Mr. Weston, CEO of ABF, sees the split as a strategic move that will enable a deeper focus on the strengths and growth opportunities of each business segment. He highlighted the benefits of greater governance for Primark to maximize the brand’s potential in existing and new markets.
