A man aboard a Ryanair flight faced a life-threatening situation when a part of the engine detached, causing him to be partially sucked out of a window at 20,000ft. The incident occurred during a flight from Greece, prompting the pilot to return to Thessaloniki due to engine issues over North Macedonia.
The man, Ljubiša Karović, was left hanging outside the aircraft while his wife, Svetlana Grković, desperately clung to his feet, recalling the terrifying moment when the engine part hit the window next to her husband. She expressed her immediate reaction to grab his legs, determined to face the ordeal together.
Following the heroic efforts of a passenger who assisted in saving her husband, Ms. Grković expressed her gratitude. Meanwhile, Mr. Karović is currently hospitalized with severe injuries, including the inability to speak, friction burns, severe shock, and other burns. His wife revealed that he lost consciousness multiple times during the incident and has limited memory of the events.
Ryanair confirmed the incident, stating that the flight returned to Thessaloniki after the window dislodged in mid-air. Passengers received medical assistance, and a replacement aircraft was arranged to transport them to their destination in Memmingen, minimizing any delays.
