“British TikTok Influencer Faces Execution for Fatal Stabbing in Dubai”

A man was reportedly fatally stabbed in Dubai by a British TikTok influencer who had a previous conviction for assaulting a woman.

Brooke George, 23, is facing potential execution by firing squad if found guilty of the murder of fellow Brit Bill Treeby, 26, whom she met online. The group representing George’s family, Detained in Dubai, stated that George claimed self-defense as she was allegedly assaulted multiple times.

Formerly employed as a shop assistant at John Lewis, George, with approximately 100,000 TikTok followers, traveled to the UAE after connecting with Treeby on Facebook for a purported photoshoot.

It has been disclosed that Treeby was previously convicted of unlawful wounding and common assault in December 2023 at Maidstone Crown Court, relating to an attack on a woman and a man. He received a 14-month suspended prison sentence, confirmed by a court official.

Awaiting trial at the same court next year, Treeby faced charges of involvement in a cocaine supply plot following a police seizure of cocaine, cash, and cannabis worth £80,000. In March 2024, he was among seven suspects charged with conspiracy to supply cocaine after an investigation by Kent Police’s County Lines and Gangs Team.

George, a resident of Gravesend, Kent, is currently detained at the Bur Dubai police station in Dubai. She stated that her initial visit to the country was positive and lasted about a week, describing it as an enjoyable experience.

However, during her second trip to Dubai in June, she accused Treeby of confiscating her passport, booking her a one-way ticket, and physically assaulting her when she requested her passport. An altercation reportedly occurred at an apartment after they spent an evening together.

Alleging self-defense, George claimed she was attacked and grabbed a kitchen knife to protect herself. Despite attempting to flee with the help of friends who arranged a return flight, she was arrested at Dubai International Airport in the early hours of June 22.

Following her arrest, George reported being denied legal representation and forced to undress in front of male officers. She expressed feeling deeply humiliated and distressed, breaking down in tears while recounting the incident to her family.

In a statement issued through Detained in Dubai, George’s mother, Thereza, emphasized her daughter’s fear and urgency to return home, indicating her belief that George was trying to escape a distressing situation.

Karen, Treeby’s widow, described him as a cherished husband and father in a Facebook post, expressing her devastation at losing her beloved son.

CEO Radha Stirling of Detained in Dubai urged authorities to consider the incident as a case of domestic abuse and requested George’s release on bail pending further investigation.
