“Vancouver Rise Dominates Ottawa Rapid 5-1 in Super League Debut”

The Vancouver Rise, led by Alex Lamontagne’s two goals in her debut, dominated the Ottawa Rapid with a 5-1 victory in Northern Super League action in Ottawa. Anna Bout, Maithe Lopez, and Camila Reyes, who converted a penalty shot, also found the back of the net for the Rise. Scoring three goals in a quick 10-minute span early in the second half, Vancouver secured a comfortable win at TD Place.

Elise Bell managed to score a consolation goal for the Rapid in the 82nd minute, breaking Jessica Wulf’s shutout attempt. Following this win, the Rise climbed to fourth place in the league standings, surpassing the Halifax Tide by one point. They now hold a record of seven wins, one draw, and nine losses, totaling 22 points. Meanwhile, the Ottawa Rapid, currently leading the league with 33 points, suffered their fourth loss of the season, resulting in a record of 10 wins, three draws, and four losses.

During the match, the Rise maintained a slight edge in possession (53% to 47%) and outshot the Rapid 17-8, with 11 shots on target compared to the hosts’ 3. Vancouver also earned four corner kicks, while both teams received two yellow cards each.

Looking ahead, the Rise will face the Calgary Wild at home on Saturday, August 29, while the Rapid will travel to take on AFC Toronto on Sunday, August 30.
