A tragic incident occurred in East Sussex as a van went over a cliff at a popular seaside spot, resulting in the driver’s death. The incident took place in Peacehaven, Lewes district, with the van crashing onto the beach below. Authorities responded to the scene around 4:30 pm, where a section of fencing was destroyed at the cliff’s edge. Sussex Police confirmed the driver, a man yet to be formally identified, was found deceased.
Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, and the coroner’s officer has been notified. The area has been cordoned off by Sussex Police as the investigation continues. The Lewes District council also issued a statement advising the public to avoid the area, specifically the beach at Friars Bay in Peacehaven.
