Firefighters rushed to a large fire near an M&S store in Somerset. Residents were advised to keep windows and doors closed as smoke filled the area. The Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service deployed ten fire engines to combat the flames at an abandoned building on Kingsway. Fire crews from various stations arrived following reports around 3 pm.
Images depicted a three-story warehouse engulfed in flames as firefighters worked to control the situation. According to Somerset Live, the fire service stated, “We have eight pumping appliances and special units at a three-story derelict building fire on Kingsway, Frome. Crews are using three main jets to tackle the fire, and cordons are in place due to the building’s instability. Nearby residents were urged to keep doors and windows shut due to the smoke.”
In a later update, the fire service mentioned, “Two water carriers and two aerial ladder platforms are now at the scene. Additional support is coming from neighboring fire and rescue services in Avon, Dorset, and Wiltshire.”
