An American military member lost their life in northern Iraq while conducting a controlled detonation of unexploded ordnance, marking the third recent US casualty. This fatality brings the total number of US troops killed to 17 since the commencement of the Iran conflict on February 28, following coordinated US-Israeli strikes across Iran. Additionally, two US service members were killed in Iranian attacks in Jordan on Friday, with one service member reported missing.
CENTCOM confirmed the discovery of unidentified remains at the scene in Jordan, with efforts underway to identify them. The statement from CENTCOM highlighted the recent casualties, stating that a service member in northern Iraq died during the disposal of unexploded ordnance from an Iranian drone, while another service member sustained minor injuries and is receiving medical care.
