The latest assessment of broadband services in the UK has revealed varying levels of customer complaints, with some providers faring better than others. Ofcom, the regulatory body, disclosed the most recent data on grievances reported by households, highlighting Vodafone and TalkTalk as underperforming ISPs compared to their competitors.
Vodafone recorded the highest number of complaints at 11 per 100,000 customers, marking a deterioration from the previous assessment period. Ofcom confirmed that both Vodafone and TalkTalk received significant complaints, with Vodafone experiencing a surge in grievances while TalkTalk’s complaint levels remained constant.
In a surprising turn, Virgin Media emerged as the top performer, showcasing a commendable improvement in its service quality despite past challenges. Plusnet and Virgin Media were noted as the least complained-about broadband providers, with other strong performers including Plusnet and Sky.
In terms of landline services, Utility Warehouse stood out with just one complaint per 100,000 customers, closely followed by Sky, Virgin Media, and Vodafone. For television services, TalkTalk claimed the top spot, followed by Sky.
The statistics for broadband and TV complaints revealed that Virgin Media, Plusnet, and Sky received fewer grievances compared to other providers. However, overall complaints have been on the rise, primarily attributed to recent price increases affecting a large number of households in the UK.
Cristina Luna-Esteban, Ofcom’s Director of Consumers and Retail Markets, expressed disappointment over the increased complaints, particularly following a period of decreasing telecom company grievances. She highlighted unexpected price rises for mobile customers as a significant factor contributing to the recent surge in complaints. Ofcom remains vigilant in monitoring the market and future complaint trends to address ongoing customer dissatisfaction concerns.
