“Gmail Users on Samsung Devices Report Screen Flickering Issue”

Users of various devices, including Samsung models, are encountering screen flickering issues while using the Gmail app. Some individuals have reported text disappearing or being replaced by blank white boxes within their emails.

Concerned Gmail users have turned to social media platforms to express their frustrations. One user, Jeremiah, voiced his concerns on X, questioning when Android would function properly on folding phones like his Samsung Fold, citing ongoing flickering problems on the inner screen.

Similar grievances have surfaced on Google’s support forums, with users detailing difficulties reading emails due to persistent screen flickering despite attempting various troubleshooting steps.

Google’s product expert, Kimiya Kitani, has identified the problem as related to Android System WebView, a crucial Android component enabling apps to showcase web content internally. Kitani mentioned that certain devices, particularly Samsung tablets, are facing intermittent issues with Android System WebView, which has been reported to Google for resolution.

While the exact number of affected users remains unclear, reports indicate that Samsung foldable devices such as the Galaxy Z Fold series and specific Galaxy tablets are among the most impacted.

In the interim, a temporary workaround has been suggested. Rotating the device is proposed as a potential solution to halt the screen flickering issue. Users can try opening emails in portrait mode, rotating the device to landscape mode until the display stabilizes, and then switching back to portrait mode.

This temporary fix is recommended while awaiting a permanent solution from Google to address the screen flickering problem.
