“Toronto Tempo’s Kiki Rice Named to 2026 WNBA All-Rookie Team”

Toronto Tempo’s guard, Kiki Rice, has been honored by the WNBA as a part of the 2026 All-Rookie team, as the league announced on Wednesday. Rice made 20 starts in 28 games during her debut season, maintaining an average of 13.4 points, 3.7 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 0.8 steals in 27.1 minutes per game. Among rookies, she ranked fourth in scoring, shooting 47.2% from the field, 35.1% from beyond the arc, and 86.9% from the free-throw line.

After suffering a Grade 3 left ankle sprain in a game on June 3, Rice was sidelined for nearly two months. However, she made a strong comeback on July 28 and impressively scored double figures in 12 of her final 13 games. Her season culminated with a career-best performance of 28 points against the Connecticut Sun on September 24, making her one of only nine rookies in WNBA history to achieve at least 28 points without a turnover.

Having been chosen as the sixth overall pick in the 2026 WNBA Draft and the first pick in Tempo’s history, Rice was also recognized last month on The Associated Press’ all-rookie team. Monica Wright Rogers, Tempo’s general manager, expressed immense pride in Rice’s achievements in her debut WNBA season, highlighting her talent, composure, and dedication that have contributed significantly to the team’s growth and success in Toronto.

Additionally, Rice’s remarkable efforts were showcased in a game against the Storm, where despite scoring a career-high 24 points, Tempo fell short to Seattle with a final score of 90-78.
