The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has issued a recall for various organic cheese products sold under the Farm Boy, L’AncĂȘtre, and Life Smart brands due to potential Listeria contamination. The recall was initiated following testing, and no illnesses related to the consumption of these products have been reported.
The affected items include Farm Boy organic Swiss, medium cheddar, old cheddar, extra sharp, and three-year-old cheddar cheeses with a best before date of July 30, 2027. Additionally, Life Smart organic part skim mozzarella cheese with a best before date of March 30, 2027, and several shredded organic cheeses produced by L’AncĂȘtre with best before dates of December, January, and July are also part of the recall. L’AncĂȘtre’s organic Swiss cheese with a best before date of July 30, 2027, is included as well.
These products were distributed nationwide and can be found in stores across Canada. Consumers are advised not to consume the recalled items if they have them at home. The CFIA recommends either disposing of the products or returning them to the place of purchase. It is important to note that even if a product appears and smells normal, it may still pose health risks.
Listeria symptoms may include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache, and neck stiffness. Pregnant women, the elderly, and individuals with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable to Listeria-related complications.
