“Toronto Sixers Secure Canada Super60 Cricket League Title”

The Toronto Sixers clinched victory in the Canada Super60 Cricket League women’s final at B.C. Place, Vancouver. They defeated the previously unbeaten Vancouver Warriors by six wickets with three balls remaining. The Sixers were 27/3 halfway through their chase of 85, but Ella McCaughan’s unbeaten 36 off 20 balls turned the game around after a previous loss to Vancouver. In the men’s league, the Mississauga Masters beat the Toronto Sixers by 92 runs, securing a 5-0 record. Both teams, along with the Vancouver Anchors and Brampton Blitz, advanced to the semifinals. The matches were broadcast on CBC Sports Primetime, hosted by Andi Petrillo.

The Canada Super60 league features a short-format cricket version, with matches lasting about 90 minutes. Each team faces up to 60 balls, and an innings ends if 10 batters are dismissed. Vancouver chose to bat and started well but collapsed to 84/9. Toronto’s Sophia Smale and Amarpal Kaur took two wickets each, leading to Vancouver’s downfall. In the men’s league, Mississauga’s Alex Lees scored 70 runs off 24 balls, setting the tone for their win. Toronto struggled in their chase, with Kieron Pollard providing some late fireworks.
