A teen displaying quick thinking rescued two men who had fallen from an inflatable toy near the Isle of Skye, earning praise from the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI). Volunteers from RNLI’s Kyle of Lochalsh branch received a distress call around 9pm on Saturday about the men in trouble in Broadford Bay.
Before the RNLI team could reach the scene, a teenager, approximately 16 years old, noticed the duo in distress, took his own boat out, and safely brought them ashore. The RNLI crew ensured there were no injuries before departing.
Andrew MacDonald, helm at Kyle RNLI, commended the teenager’s swift actions, emphasizing that his intervention prevented a potentially grave situation. MacDonald also advised the public to limit inflatable toy usage to swimming pools, wear life jackets, and have means of communication when in open water to seek help in emergencies.
