Newly released security camera footage captures a disturbing moment as a convicted child killer nervously scans his surroundings while being followed by three murderers into his prison cell.
Kyle Bevan, aged 33, who was incarcerated at HMP Wakefield, known as “Monster Mansion,” for the heinous murder of his two-year-old stepdaughter, fell victim to an attack by fellow inmates. The CCTV footage reveals Mark “The Iceman” Fellows, Lee Newell, and David Taylor tracking Bevan into his cell and brutally stabbing him 25 times.
The assailants then staged the scene by placing Bevan in bed to make it seem like he was asleep. Bevan’s lifeless body was only discovered during a morning roll call, hours after the fatal attack. Fellows, along with Taylor and Newell, received whole life sentences at Leeds Crown Court for their involvement in the murder.
These three individuals conspired to harm Bevan, who was serving a life sentence for the murder of toddler Lola James in Wales. Prosecutors revealed that the killers had targeted specific inmates, including sex offenders and those convicted of crimes against children, possibly aiming to be transferred from HMP Wakefield.
During the trial, evidence was presented showing items stained with Bevan’s blood in the attackers’ cells, including a makeshift weapon with his blood on it. The jury concluded that the trio had collaborated to cause harm to Bevan, resulting in his death.
Mrs. Justice McGowan, in her sentencing remarks, highlighted the premeditated nature of the attack, where the assailants armed themselves before cornering Bevan in his cell, restraining him, and inflicting fatal stab wounds.
Chief Inspector James Entwistle of West Yorkshire Police condemned the violent incident as a deliberate and callous act carried out by long-term inmates inside the prison. He emphasized the importance of maintaining safety within correctional facilities and ensuring that offenders are held accountable for their actions.
By securing convictions against Fellows, Taylor, and Newell, the verdicts aim to uphold safety standards and enforce the rule of law within the prison system.
