The fatal accident occurred during a training exercise in Devon when their Royal Navy Merlin Mk4 helicopter encountered difficulties early on Wednesday. Lieutenant Fisher had a history of active participation from a young age, excelling in various sports and discovering her passion for flying during her university years. Tragically, she lost her life during her final flying training assessment, just before receiving her Pilot’s Wings this month.
Lieutenant Commander Grayson, who joined the Royal Navy in 2008, was known for his exemplary leadership and dedication to his role. His family described him as a kind and devoted family man who cherished his job in the Navy.
Petty Officer Green, who started his career in the Royal Navy in January 2022, demonstrated exceptional professionalism and dedication throughout his service. His family expressed deep sorrow over the loss of their beloved son, highlighting his caring nature and the impact he had on those around him.
Tributes poured in from officials, with Air Vice-Marshal Lee Turner RAF expressing profound sadness over the loss of the skilled aviators and their impact on the aviation command.
