Prince George has been confirmed to follow in his father’s footsteps by attending Eton College starting in September when the new school year commences. The eldest son of the Prince and Princess of Wales, who will turn 13 in July, is currently completing his final term at Lambrook School, where he has been since September 2022.
Upon his return after the summer break, Prince George, second in line to the throne, will commence his secondary education at Eton College, an all-boys school with an annual fee of £63,000. The school is conveniently located just a 12-minute drive from the Wales’ family residence at Forest Lodge on the Windsor estate.
A statement released on behalf of William and Kate from Kensington Palace confirmed Prince George’s enrollment at Eton College, with no mention of whether he will be boarding at the institution. George will be joining a prestigious list of royals who have attended Eton, including his father Prince William and uncle Prince Harry.
Prince William, who attended Eton between 1995 and 2000, spoke highly of his time at the school, expressing his enjoyment of the experience as a student. He participated in various sports teams and extracurricular activities, excelling academically with notable achievements in his studies.
In contrast, Prince Harry had a different experience at Eton, openly discussing his struggles with adapting to the boarding school environment. He credited his involvement in sports for helping him cope with the challenges he faced during his time at Eton.
Prince George’s decision to attend Eton follows months of speculation regarding his choice of secondary education. Other potential schools under consideration included Marlborough College and Oundle School. With this announcement, Prince George joins a long line of royal figures and influential individuals who have walked the halls of Eton College.
