A man working as a plumber was taken into custody in the presence of his son following the discovery of his ex-partner’s decomposed body concealed under a bed in Turin, Italy. Daniela Florea, aged 36, had not been in contact with a friend for approximately 10 days, prompting concern. The friend accessed her apartment using spare keys, leading to the grim finding.
Upon entering the residence, a strong odor alerted the friend, who promptly contacted the authorities on July 20. Daniela’s body was located within a storage area beneath the bed, wrapped in a white bedsheet and significantly decomposed.
After the discovery, Daniela’s former partner, Daniel Trandafir, was located at his residence in Turin with their six-year-old son and the family dog. The child has been placed in the care of a community facility.
Denying any involvement in Daniela’s demise, Trandafir, aged 45, was inconsistent in his statements regarding his last interaction with her according to investigators. He has been arrested on charges of femicide, concealing a corpse, and aggravated domestic abuse.
A post-mortem examination revealed severe head injuries and indications of asphyxiation as the cause of death, occurring around 10 days before the body was found. Investigators suspect Trandafir to be the last person to have seen her alive and allege that he killed her on the night of July 9–10 before hiding her remains under the bed, motivated by the refusal to accept the end of the relationship.
Daniela, a Romanian national, had moved into the apartment with her son after ending her relationship with Trandafir a few months prior. It was discovered that Trandafir still had keys to her residence, granting him access to the building.
The investigation into the case remains ongoing.
