A shocking incident captured on video shows individuals wearing masks driving their car into a highway service station and then proceeding to steal from an ATM and slot machines.
According to eyewitness Rupon Miah, 34, the event took place at Wetherby Services on the A1(M) in North Yorkshire, around 2 am on July 29. The video footage displays the ATM machine being damaged by the perpetrators wearing balaclavas, who then rummage through the slot machine area.
Rupon, who hails from London, recounted witnessing the car crashing into the service station and targeting the ATM. He started recording after the initial impact and observed four masked men looting the slot machines inside.
After the robbery, Rupon noticed the culprits fleeing with the ATM loaded in the boot of their car, leaving the boot open.
North Yorkshire Police have confirmed an ongoing investigation into the incident but have not made any arrests yet. They appealed for witnesses and information following the theft involving cash machines at Wetherby Services.
The police provided details of the incident, mentioning that a black vehicle, likely an older-model Nissan Juke, was used to breach the service station and steal from the ATM. The suspects, wearing face coverings and gloves, also targeted a cash pay-out machine, which was then taken away using the vehicle.
A burnt Nissan Juke was later found in the Leeds area with the stolen cash machine inside. Authorities are seeking information from anyone who witnessed the event or saw the vehicle traveling between Wetherby and Leeds during the early hours of the day.
Detectives are particularly interested in speaking to three men who might have crucial information regarding the incident. They emphasize that these individuals are considered witnesses and not suspects. Witnesses or individuals with relevant information are encouraged to contact North Yorkshire Police or Crimestoppers anonymously.
