A mother has spent £5,000 revamping her residence into a ‘Barbie Dreamhouse’ featuring a pink slide, although some locals have criticized its appearance.
Nicole Watt, aged 27, has adorned the outside of her house with a Barbie-themed mannequin, palm tree, dressing table, and surfboard. She devoted six months to planning the doll’s palace, resulting in her home in Carluke, Scotland, being adorned with a pink disco ball, flamingos, and beach accessories.
Nicole mentioned that her three daughters, Ariah (8), and twins Aryn and Ayda (both 5), inspired the Barbie-themed transformation due to their shared love for Barbie dolls.
Most of the doll’s house was constructed using wood, pink paint, and recycled materials, with Nicole estimating the total cost of the project to be approximately £5,000.
Their residence has become a notable attraction, drawing numerous visitors locally and online who stop by to take pictures. While many have praised the Barbie Dreamhouse, some individuals have expressed reservations.
One local resident commented, “Imagine having to live across from that.” Another stated, “It may be excessive and likely expensive.”
Additional comments included, “It’s in a sorry state.” Nicole remarked, “The girls’ grandfather and grandmother crafted the house, surfboards, pantries, lampposts, and palm trees – all Barbie essentials.”
“Dealing with twins can be challenging as they have differing preferences except for Barbies, so we opted for a Barbie Dreamhouse. They adore Barbies, and my older daughter is a huge fan, so this is like a dream come true,” Nicole explained.
She disclosed that the Barbie Dreamhouse was part of the Carluke and District Gala Day and was constructed in three phases, requiring scaffolding for proper installation.
The exterior features a jewelry board, disco ball, flamingos, and beach balls. However, the Barbie house is scheduled to be dismantled soon as Nicole awaits the scaffolding’s removal.
She added, “The backdrop obstructs my view from the windows. It has been up for a week already.”
The Barbie Dreamhouse attracted significant attention on TikTok, drawing visitors from various locations who wanted to see it in person.
According to Nicole, “People have traveled from all over to see it. I stepped out yesterday, and a stranger was in my yard taking pictures – they find it amazing.”
Local residents have taken to social media to commend the family’s outstanding efforts in creating this Barbie paradise.
