“Airport Chaos at Trump’s UFC 80th Birthday Bash”

A significant airport closure was attributed to a spectacle that occurred at Donald Trump’s cage fighting 80th birthday celebration, despite his absence at the event.

The UFC Freedom 250 event kicked off Saturday night with a ceremonial weigh-in for the fighters set to compete on the White House South Lawn the following evening. The opening ceremony, led by podcast star Joe Rogan, featured performances by the US Marine Corps Silent Drill Platoon, country rock singer Zac Brown, and an American Bald Eagle that enthralled the crowd of around 10,000 attendees. Complaints arose about the bright lights emanating from the White House lawn and Ellipse park, causing distractions for airline pilots flying near Ronald Reagan National Airport.

The airport shutdown was possibly triggered by a stunt where a parachute team descended with an American flag near the Washington Monument. The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed the temporary halt of flights at Reagan Airport due to a “special event or air show.” Trump, who was returning from a golf outing and hosting a dinner for his supporters, was not present when the incident occurred.

The upcoming Sunday evening will feature a lineup of Mixed Martial Arts fights, including two title matches. Approximately 5,000 invited guests, military personnel, and Trump administration officials will witness the fights from the Octagon cage seating on the South Lawn. For other spectators, there will be a “Fan Fest” on the Ellipse, offering various entertainment options such as photo ops, meet-and-greets, themed bars, strength-testing machines, truck demonstrations, and a bar exclusively serving Monster energy drinks and featuring female models.

Diego and Daniel, attendees from Florida, expressed their excitement for the event, describing it as a blend of UFC fandom and historic significance. Meanwhile, Michelle and Andy from Wisconsin traveled to Washington DC but opted not to attend the event, with Andy criticizing the President’s celebration as a costly spectacle for taxpayers.
