“Massive Wildfire Forces 12,000 to Shelter in Costa Brava”

A massive wildfire has swept through approximately 750 hectares of woodland near the Costa Brava, leading to the mandatory sheltering of up to 12,000 individuals. Fueled by the tramontana wind, the fire remains active in Girona, located in northeast Spain, casting a large smoke cloud over the popular tourist destination.

Residents in the Empordà area have been issued precautionary orders to stay indoors, affecting around 12,000 people. Additionally, 40,000 individuals have received notifications via Es-Alert, Spain’s national emergency alert system, on their mobile devices, providing safety instructions.
