Two individuals have lost their lives following a shooting incident involving three people at a shopping center in the United States after a reported altercation, as confirmed by authorities. The tragic event occurred at Fairlane Town Center mall in Dearborn, Michigan, which was bustling with families preparing for the upcoming July 4 holiday weekend.
Witnesses observed chaos as gunshots rang out, prompting people to flee in fear while stores quickly closed their shutters. Emergency services swiftly responded to the scene, with police securing the area near Evergreen Road and Michigan Avenue around 2pm.
Law enforcement officials revealed that among the three gunshot victims, two fatalities were reported. One victim succumbed to injuries at the scene, while the other passed away in the hospital. Preliminary investigations suggest that the violence was not random but rather a confrontation between two known parties within the mall.
During a press briefing, an officer stated, “The situation appears to have escalated from a dispute into gunfire involving individuals familiar with each other at the mall. Both parties were armed, and we are currently interviewing several individuals at the station.”
The Dearborn Police Department issued a statement urging residents and visitors to avoid the area to facilitate the ongoing investigation. Mayor Abdullah Hammoud also advised the public to steer clear of Fairlane Mall while authorities secure the premises.

Another shopper, Weston Fantroy, recounted his experience of hearing gunshots while shopping for his daughter’s birthday gift, leading him to swiftly exit the mall amid the panic.
