A 13-year-old boy sustained serious injuries when he was bitten on the thigh by a shark while fishing on a boat in the United States. Witnesses reported that the boat was quickly brought ashore, and people rushed to provide assistance before emergency services arrived in McIntosh County, Georgia.
The incident occurred near Ossabaw Island, approximately 20 miles south of Savannah, on a Wednesday afternoon. The Coast Guard stated that the victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Upon docking, the father of the teenager urgently sought medical help for his son.
The teenager was fishing with two companions and his father when the shark attacked and bit his thigh. A witness, Terry Tatum, described the distressing situation, mentioning that they saw a boat approaching with evident signs of distress. The witness recounted that the teenagers were fishing and had caught a large shark, which bit the young man’s thigh when they attempted to release it.
McIntosh County EMS volunteer BJ Comer also rushed to aid at the dock, recalling the need for a tourniquet. Emergency services arrived simultaneously, and Comer assisted in transferring the patient off the boat for transportation by EMS.
