A man, Muhammad Ans, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for multiple rapes of women he met on dating apps. Convicted of four counts of rape against three women, Ans, aged 29, was found guilty after a trial at Plymouth Crown Court. In addition to the jail time, he will serve an extra three years on extended licence and has been placed on the sex offenders register for life.
Ans targeted his victims on popular dating apps such as Tinder, Bumble, and Badoo from 2023 to 2025. One victim reported that after being raped by Ans, he offered her $3,000 as compensation to keep quiet about the assault.
The first victim met Ans on Bumble, leading to a series of assaults in late 2023 and early 2024. The second victim encountered him on Badoo, where despite her refusal, Ans raped her in 2024.
Following reports by the victims, Ans was tracked down by the police in Leeds after fleeing from Tavistock. Despite denying the offenses during questioning, Ans was charged and bailed, with restrictions on contacting the victims.
In August 2025, another victim came forward, recounting a similar ordeal with Ans after meeting him on Tinder. With evidence mounting, Ans faced charges related to all three victims, reflecting a pattern of manipulation and assault.
During the sentencing, the victims shared the profound impact of Ans’ actions on their lives, highlighting the lasting trauma and emotional distress caused by his predatory behavior. Judge Matthew Turner emphasized Ans’ lack of remorse and the severe consequences of his actions on the vulnerable victims.
Detective Constable Craig Ferguson, involved in the case, praised the victims for their bravery in coming forward and vowed continued support for victims of sexual offenses. The case underscores the importance of vigilance and protection in online dating environments to prevent such heinous crimes.
