Andy Burnham was a new name to me until I watched the Hillsborough 20th-anniversary memorial service. At that time, having just given birth, I was initially upset that a politician was speaking at such an event. However, as the crowd shouted for justice and I saw the sincerity in Andy’s eyes, my feelings changed. Over time, my respect for Andy grew as he demonstrated his commitment through the Hillsborough Independent Panel.
Known for his kindness, humility, understanding, and loyalty, Andy’s remarkable calmness stands out the most. Collaborating with him on the “Hillsborough Law Now” initiative, I witnessed his unwavering support and belief in our cause. Andy’s dedication to justice stems from his empathy for those affected by various injustices, driving him to make a positive difference.
Witnessing Andy’s involvement in the Public Office Accountability Bill negotiations and his significant role in the House of Commons has been truly inspiring. Despite his recent appointment as Prime Minister, Andy remains grounded and focused on his responsibilities.
While Andy’s football banter may be biased towards Everton, his professional demeanor and dedication to public service are undeniable. As he takes on new challenges, including his leadership in the Labour Party, I am confident in Andy’s ability to continue making a positive impact in our country’s political landscape.
I look forward to Andy’s future endeavors and wish him and his family success in this new chapter of leadership.
