“England’s World Cup Clash Sparks 5am Pub Hours”

Sir Keir Starmer made a surprise announcement on Thursday, extending licensing hours until 5am for England’s World Cup knockout match against Mexico. The Prime Minister’s decision eliminated the need for venues to seek special council permissions or Temporary Event Notices, allowing hundreds of establishments to stay open late.

Fans gearing up for the high-stakes last 16 match at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City won’t be getting much sleep, with the game scheduled to start at 1am UK time. Despite the late hour, many pubs are expected to close, so Three Lions supporters need to plan ahead to catch the action on big screens.

As law enforcement authorities brace for potential issues following the sudden announcement, football enthusiasts are strategizing where to watch the game as the England team faces a tough challenge against the unbeaten Mexican side.

While only a few of Wetherspoon’s 800 pubs will be open, Greene King plans to welcome customers at 600 of its 2,600 venues. Additionally, various independent pubs and selected locations from chains like Boxpark, Young’s, and Fuller, Smith & Turner will also be open for the match.

Several pubs across the UK have confirmed that they will be open for the England vs Mexico game on Monday morning.
