The perpetrator, who emitted a distinct odor of gasoline, metal, smoke, and sweat and displayed rough physical characteristics and language, issued threats to prevent the victims from reporting the crimes.
These assaults, which occurred over a span of 16 months, remained unresolved for four decades until recently when Richard Hubert Jones was charged by Calgary police. Jones, now 72, confessed that his DNA matched the samples collected from the crime scenes and victims, leading to his impending conviction. Prosecutor Vicki Faulkner outlined the detailed accounts of the attacks and the compelling DNA evidence, highlighting the advancements in forensic technology that linked Jones to the crimes.
