A plea has been made by a funeral director to the local community to attend the funeral of a man who passed away without any known next of kin. Patrick McNally, a resident of West Belfast, peacefully passed away at a hospice in Northern Ireland recently. In an obituary, he was described as a “loving son” and a “beloved brother.”
After Patrick’s demise, Mallon Brothers Funeral Directors utilized social media to share information about his funeral and the commemoration of his life, urging anyone familiar with him to come and participate in the service. Unfortunately, as Patrick had no contact with his only surviving sibling, there are no family members available to attend his funeral. Consequently, the directors have made an appeal to the community to come forward and support Patrick on his final journey.
“McNally Patrick, peacefully passed away at the N.I hospice on June 22, 2026, (formerly of 306 Glen Road),” the funeral directors stated. “A loving son of the late Mary and John. A beloved brother to Gerard, the late John-Joseph and Bridget, Uncle, Cousin, and friend, RIP. Funeral arrangements will be shared later. St Pio, pray for him.”
“Regrettably, Patrick has no immediate family. His only surviving brother has not been in contact with him for over 50 years, and there is no known next of kin.”
The directors extended a “heartfelt invitation” to the West Belfast community to attend Patrick’s funeral and provide him with a “farewell he deserves,” according to Belfast Live. “If you knew Patrick at any point in his life, whether as a neighbor, friend, colleague, acquaintance, or if you simply wish to stand with others in an act of kindness and respect, we invite you to join us,” they added.
“Your presence, no matter how brief, would help ensure Patrick is remembered and that his final journey is marked with dignity, companionship, and care. Together, we can give Patrick a proper send-off and demonstrate that every life is significant and every person holds a place in the world. No one should bid farewell alone.”
