King Charles issued a communication to top British officials on Monday reaffirming that Prince Harry and Meghan, his youngest son and daughter-in-law, are not active members of the royal family since their return to the U.K. The directive, distributed to Harry’s team and circulated among key government and military figures, clarified that following their withdrawal from official royal duties in 2020, Harry and Meghan are now considered separate from the operational royal family.
The letter emphasized that the couple’s status permits them a level of personal freedom regarding financial matters and privacy, aligning them more with private citizens pursuing commercial and charitable ventures. Their charitable activities are noted as personal endeavors undertaken independently. Therefore, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex retain their current standing without alteration.
