Several Taylor Swift tracks have been taken down from social media videos shared by U.S. President Donald Trump’s campaign and the White House, which had featured two of the singer’s songs in the past week.
Neither the White House nor a spokesperson for Swift responded immediately to requests for comments.
Swift has not addressed Trump recently, but she did endorse his Democratic opponent, then Vice-President Kamala Harris, in 2024. During the 2020 election, Swift expressed on social media her disapproval of Trump being the president.
Trump has been critical of Swift on multiple occasions. After Swift endorsed Harris, the Republican leader stated on social media, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” Additionally, he mentioned, “Has anyone noticed that, since I said ‘I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT,’ she’s no longer ‘HOT?'”
Various artists, including Sabrina Carpenter and Ariana Grande, have urged the Trump administration not to use their music.
TikToks referencing well-known Swift songs
The Trump campaign recently featured two Swift songs on its TikTok page. One video, inspired by her lyrics, included a caption alluding to popular tracks by the singer, such as: “Red (Donald Trump’s Version).”
In June, Trump’s campaign posted a video on the short-video platform using Swift’s latest song “I Knew It, I Knew You” from Toy Story 5. The video was captioned, “Nobody loves our country & the American People more than @President Donald J Trump,” showcasing interactions with children at the White House, attending a UFC match, and appearing at a rally.
This marked the third instance where Trump’s team or the administration utilized one of Swift’s songs in recent times.
In April, the White House shared a video featuring the Artemis II crew meeting Trump at the White House the day before. The video included Swift’s song High Infidelity and lyrics referencing the line: “Do you really want to know where I was April 29th?”
In November, the White House posted another TikTok video with Swift’s song The Fate of Ophelia</em
