Authorities have discovered human remains believed to be of a missing teenager in a river, prompting a murder investigation.
Taylor Charlton, aged 15, was last spotted on May 8 near Tarka Leisure Centre and Seven Brethren car park in Barnstaple, Devon. He was seen walking towards the River Taw, and efforts to locate him have been ongoing for the past six weeks.
The human remains were recovered from the river close to Sticklepath on June 25, following the arrest of a man on suspicion of murder. The discovery was made on June 24 around 4.20 pm.
Although formal identification is pending, Taylor’s family has been notified of the situation. Devon and Cornwall Police have urged the community to avoid speculation and await official updates.
Emergency services will continue investigations around the river. A 20-year-old man was previously taken into custody on June 12 on suspicion of murder and later released on police bail.
