Authorities have discovered a body presumed to be that of a 14-year-old girl in a park located in Wales, initiating a murder investigation.

The body was found in the Duffryn Park area of Blaina, Wales, on the evening of June 22. Although formal identification is pending, it is believed to be the missing girl named Lilly.

Family members have been notified about the situation, and a significant police presence remains in the vicinity as authorities strive to determine the circumstances of the girl’s death.

Gwent Police issued an appeal for information regarding the missing teenager on June 22, stating that she was last seen on High Street, Blaina, on June 20. Described as white, approximately 5ft6in tall, with a medium build and long black hair, the girl was last seen wearing a long black dress and black sandals, with known connections to Brynmawr, a town situated north of Blaina.

Expressing profound sorrow, Local Councillor Lisa Catherine Winnett conveyed the community’s devastation about the tragic outcome. She extended her sympathies to Lilly’s family during this distressing period and urged swift action by the police to identify the responsible party, emphasizing the community’s unity in facing this profound impact.

Despite extensive search efforts by family, friends, and community members after Lilly was reported missing, no arrests have been made yet. It remains uncertain whether the perpetrator had any prior connection to Lilly.

Detective Chief Inspector Steven Thomas acknowledged the distress caused by the incident and assured ongoing investigations to determine the circumstances surrounding the death. He encouraged individuals with relevant information to come forward and assist in the inquiry.
