“World Nomad Games in Kyrgyzstan Showcase Nomadic Sports and Culture”

The World Nomad Games, a cultural and sporting event celebrating traditional nomadic sports, are currently taking place in Kyrgyzstan. Athletes from 104 countries are participating in the games, which highlight sports of the Turkic peoples of Central Asia. The festivities, located in Kyrchyn Gorge, about 314 kilometers east of Bishkek, are set to conclude on Sunday.

During the 6th edition of the Games, participants and spectators gathered at the venue on Wednesday, showcasing various activities. Competitors were seen parading with golden eagles, engaging in hunting bird competitions, and demonstrating their equestrian skills, such as the traditional discipline of “tyiyn enmei” where riders must pick up coins while galloping. Other traditional Central Asian sports like “kok-boru” or “buzkashi” were also featured, involving mounted players tossing the carcass of a headless goat into a well for points.

Apart from the intense competitions, attendees are also enjoying the culinary delights and observing craftsmanship demonstrations. From traditional food to artisanal skills like pottery-making and wool spooling, the event offers a rich cultural experience for all visitors.
