A UK shipping company has gone into liquidation with debts totaling nearly £140,000. Aberdeen-based Jaco Couriers Limited faced legal action from HMRC, leading to its closure. The company, which employed 10 people, was dissolved by Aberdeen Sheriff Court following a petition filed by the Advocate General on behalf of HMRC. Duncan Raggett of AAB Business & Tax Advisory has been appointed as the liquidator. Records from Companies House show that in 2024, Jaco Couriers Limited owed creditors £139,000. HMRC stated that they only pursue winding-up petitions as a last resort to safeguard taxpayer funds. Another Scottish business, Woodside Homes Limited in Glasgow, has also entered voluntary liquidation to settle its debts fully. FRP Advisory has been named as the liquidator for Woodside Homes Limited. Shareholders of the company have voluntarily chosen to wind it up despite being able to meet all financial obligations.
