Tomorrow, temperatures are forecasted to soar up to 36C as heatwave conditions make a comeback in certain areas of the UK. This upcoming heatwave will mark the fourth one this year, although it is expected to be less extensive than the previous three.
The Met Office anticipates a “hot” shift in conditions today across the south-east, with temperatures likely to range between 29-30C in many places. However, the peak of the heat is predicted for tomorrow, with potential highs of 36C in parts of East Anglia and the south-east, and around 35C in eastern and south-eastern England.
According to data, the Midlands could see highs of 32-33C tomorrow, with temperatures reaching possibly 31C in Yorkshire. Wales may experience highs of 25C, while Northern Ireland and Scotland are expected to have cooler temperatures.
Temperature anomaly maps indicate that central, eastern, and southern England are likely to see temperatures well above the seasonal average tomorrow. The GFS model suggests that 11 counties in England could witness temperatures hitting 35C or higher.
An official heatwave is declared when temperatures exceed the heatwave threshold for three consecutive days. The threshold ranges from 28C in London to 25C in regions farther from the south-east.
The Met Office projects that this week’s heatwave will be brief and not widespread across the entire UK. Temperatures are anticipated to decrease heading into the weekend, with conditions returning closer to average levels across most of the UK by Friday. Despite the warmth persisting in the far south due to high pressure, it will be noticeably cooler compared to the midweek highs.
