A person who recently arrived in Austria from Uganda has been admitted to the hospital due to suspected Ebola symptoms. Despite an initial negative test result, the individual is still under observation, and local authorities have issued a health alert awaiting further testing.
The patient is currently receiving care and monitoring at a hospital in the Urfahr-Umgebung district of Austria. According to a statement from the Provincial Health Directorate, the individual, who returned from Uganda, a country grappling with an Ebola outbreak, was promptly isolated and treated following admission.
Although the initial blood test did not show signs of Ebola, confirmation from a second sample is necessary, as reported by the Austrian publication Kronen Zeitung. The person will remain isolated in the hospital for observation until further notice, as stated by health officials.
Efforts are underway to trace individuals who may have had contact with the affected person through contact tracing. The patient is scheduled to be transferred to a specialized infectious disease clinic in Vienna for continued quarantine.
