Two individuals were rescued from the waters between the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island by British Columbia’s ferry operator after their fishing boat sank. The marine rescue took place on Sunday afternoon following reports of individuals in distress. B.C. Ferries spokesperson, Sheila Reynolds, mentioned that the Spirit of British Columbia and Coastal Renaissance ferry boats launched separate rescue vessels to retrieve the two boaters, who were then transported to the Tsawwassen terminal on the mainland.
Details on the condition of the rescued individuals were not provided by the ferry service. The rescue operation resulted in delays to sailings, with further delays expected for subsequent sailings on Sunday evening. Reynolds expressed gratitude for customers’ understanding regarding the delays caused by the rescue operation.
