“Trump Urges Ceasefire Amid Israel-Iran Escalation”

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has called for a halt to the escalating hostilities between Israel and Iran. Trump made his appeal on his social media platform, Truth Social, urging both countries to cease their confrontations.

The call for peace came after Israel conducted multiple strikes in Iran in response to missile attacks on the northern part of Israel, threatening the fragile ceasefire in the region. Reports indicated that Tehran experienced a significant explosion, while the Karun Petrochemical Company in Mahshahr, southwestern Iran, was also targeted in the tit-for-tat exchanges.

The Israel Defense Forces confirmed that their air force had targeted several sites in Iran. In retaliation, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed responsibility for attacking a petrochemical plant in Israel’s Haifa along with two military bases.

Although a temporary ceasefire was brokered in April, efforts to reach a lasting peace agreement between the U.S. and Iran have been unsuccessful. The recent strikes by Iran on Israel were said to be in response to Israeli airstrikes on Hezbollah in Lebanon, as stated by Iran’s elite Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

Trump reassured that the ongoing strikes between Israel and Iran would not impact peace negotiations, emphasizing that the attacks would not hinder the deal. Following his remarks, Israel launched a series of strikes on targets in western and central Iran, escalating the conflict. Trump asserted that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would have to abide by the U.S.’s lead in any peace negotiations, underscoring his authority in the matter.
