The sudden and tragic death of a volunteer from the “school community” led to the closure of a primary school in Gloucestershire yesterday.
Following an incident that required an air ambulance, Waterwells Primary School in Quedgeley was shut down. The Greenshaw Learning Trust stated that they are offering assistance to both students and staff during this challenging period.
Gloucestershire County Council verified the closure of Waterwells Primary Academy for the day. According to GloucestershireLive, the school and pre-school are anticipated to resume normal operations on Monday.
Expressing deep sorrow, the Greenshaw Learning Trust conveyed, “We are mourning the loss of a cherished volunteer and member of our school community who passed away on Thursday.
“Our sympathies and heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends, and everyone affected by this heartbreaking event. We are extending support to students, staff, and families and request that the family’s privacy be respected during this trying time.”
A representative from the Great Western Air Ambulance Charity informed the BBC that their team responded to an incident in Quedgeley at 4.13pm, providing aid to a patient at the scene.
“They promptly dispatched a helicopter with a critical care doctor, a trainee critical care doctor, and a specialized paramedic on board,” the spokesperson mentioned.
