Tragic Loss: Teen Girl Drowns at Warwickshire Park

After a teenage girl tragically passed away at a park in north Warwickshire, witnesses revealed that her father desperately searched for her when she disappeared in the water. Emergency responders rushed to Kingsbury Water Park near Tamworth on a bank holiday Monday evening following reports of a girl in distress in the water. The 16-year-old girl was found submerged and despite the swift actions of emergency personnel, she was declared deceased at the scene.

Eyewitnesses disclosed that the girl was part of a group of youngsters who were leaping off a bridge into The River Tame when she vanished underwater. Floral tributes have been laid at the site in memory of the victim, known only as Lil. Chief Inspector Ben Hembry, North Warwickshire Area Commander, stated that the incident unfolded when youths were spotted in the water and a teenage girl went missing underwater.

Concerns were raised about young individuals engaging in jumping off the bridge into open water, a practice observed by witnesses. A neighbor, choosing to remain anonymous, expressed the sorrow and shock felt by the community, highlighting the father’s frantic search for his daughter alongside the extensive emergency response efforts. Another neighbor mentioned that the area is popular for such activities on sunny days, cautioning about the risks posed by deep water.

Authorities emphasized the dangers of entering open water, particularly during warmer weather, warning about the potential hazards, including cold water shock. Kingsbury Water Park, managed by Warwickshire County Council, spans over 600 acres with 15 lakes. The council extended condolences to the family and friends of the deceased teenager, acknowledging the tragic incident that occurred over the holiday weekend.
