“Tim Henman Surprised by Emma Raducanu’s Coach Change”

Tim Henman has expressed surprise at Emma Raducanu’s decision to part ways with her coach Andrew Richardson following her victory at the US Open in 2021. Raducanu stunned the tennis world with her remarkable win at Flushing Meadows, where she was guided by Richardson. However, just two weeks later, she opted to remove him from her team, citing a lack of experience on his part. Despite this, Richardson has since rejoined Raducanu’s coaching staff and led her to the Queen’s final, although she was defeated by Donna Vekic.

Henman, a close friend of Richardson, was caught off guard by Raducanu’s initial decision to drop him. He remarked that he was surprised by her choice and expressed hope that their reunion would lead to improved results for both of them.

Looking ahead to Wimbledon, where Raducanu is expected to be seeded at No. 32, Henman pondered whether her Grand Slam victory may have hindered her progress, as she has yet to secure another title since then. Despite this, Henman commended Raducanu’s historic achievement and emphasized the importance of building on that success.

Henman refrained from predicting another Grand Slam win for Raducanu but emphasized that under Richardson’s guidance, she could achieve consistent performances and enhance her resilience on the court. When asked about Richardson’s suitability for the role, Henman affirmed that he is a knowledgeable and experienced coach who has a long-standing relationship with Raducanu.
