Two individuals have been accused of murder in connection with the death of an eight-week-old infant at a residence in Lincolnshire. Identified as Lauren Murgatroyd, 26, residing in Novak Place, Morecambe, and Liam Neve, 26, living in Spinney Close, Grimoldby, Louth, they are facing charges after a thorough investigation conducted by the police.
The incident unfolded on October 31, 2023, when law enforcement officers responded to a location in Bourne, Lincolnshire, where the infant was discovered and rushed to the hospital but unfortunately passed away. Lincolnshire Police disclosed that both Murgatroyd and Neve were formally charged with murder on the evening of June 23, along with additional offenses.
Murgatroyd is specifically accused of providing false information about birth, being involved in the death of a child, inflicting grievous bodily harm twice under Section 18, and causing or permitting a child to endure serious physical harm twice. On the other hand, Neve is facing similar charges, along with two counts of Actual Bodily Harm (ABH). Both individuals are scheduled to appear at Lincoln Magistrates’ Court on June 24, as reported by LancashireLive.
Detective Chief Inspector Andy McWatt from the Major Crime Unit expressed, “Our primary concern is for those affected by this profoundly tragic case. We have diligently pursued this distressing incident since 2023. This investigation has been extensive and intricate, leading to the charging of two individuals in relation to the event. We acknowledge the immense sorrow caused by this incident and remain dedicated to seeking justice in honor of the infant who tragically lost their life.”
In a statement released by Lincolnshire Police, it was stated, “Last night (June 23, 2026), two individuals were charged with murder following the death of an eight-week-old infant in 2023. Liam Neve, aged 26, of Spinney Close, Grimoldby, Louth, and 26-year-old Lauren Murgatroyd, of Novak Place, Morecambe, Lancashire, have both been charged with murder and various other offenses linked to the incident. Authorities were summoned to a residence in Bourne on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, where the eight-week-old infant was subsequently taken to the hospital and passed away.”
