Provincial authorities have discovered a third set of human remains at a property close to Smiths Falls in eastern Ontario. The latest remains have been confirmed to belong to Lawrence Bertrim, who was last seen in downtown Smiths Falls in September 2022. The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating the cause of his death, with no charges filed as of now. A reward of $50,000 for information leading to a conviction in Bertrim’s case remains available, according to the police.
Lawrence Bertrim, who was 42 years old at the time of his disappearance, has been a missing person for nearly four years. OPP Detective Inspector Jennifer Patton stated in a news release that finding Bertrim is a significant development for his family and the investigative team, who have been dedicated to this case.
The discovery of three missing persons on the same property has sparked public interest. Police are urging patience as they continue to diligently follow the evidence. Bertrim’s remains were located on the Kelly Jordan Road property on August 6, a day after the body of another missing man, Robert Lambert, was found on the same property in July. Although no charges have been laid in Lambert’s case, police have expressed suspicions of foul play.
Earlier, the remains of Robbie Thomson were also found on the same property in October 2025. Four individuals, including three suspects charged with first-degree murder, have been implicated in connection with Thomson’s death.
