Throughout her life, Tessa Virtue has honed her skills in control and precision.
On the ice, she mastered the art of finding the perfect balance on a blade, entrusting her partner completely, and executing even the most challenging moves with grace.
Teamed up with Scott Moir, they revolutionized ice dance by incorporating elements of speed, accuracy, trust, and emotion. Together, they clinched three Olympic gold medals, three world championships, and etched their names in Canadian sports history.

Now, Virtue faces a new challenge that contradicts her past as a top athlete: she must let go of control, embrace uncertainty, and take the stage solo.
Her latest contemporary dance piece, choreographed by Alyssa Martin, debuts on Oct. 15 at the Fall for Dance North Festival in Toronto, where Martin serves as the artist-in-residence. This performance marks Virtue’s transition from the ice rink to the stage, reconnecting with her original passion for dance.
Virtue expressed both excitement and honor about the opportunity, yet she also admitted to mixed feelings.
“It feels like a return to my roots but also incredibly daunting. However, this mix of emotions is what makes this experience so exhilarating and refreshing,” she shared with CBC News.
