Camping emerges as the ideal choice for a local vacation, particularly for the younger demographic, according to a recent survey. The survey revealed that 7 out of 10 individuals expressed their fondness for camping, with the percentage rising to 85% among those under the age of 30. The most favored camping spot was identified as the National Trust’s campsite located at Great Langdale beneath the picturesque Langdale Pikes in the Lake District.
In a poll conducted with 2,000 British respondents, the Great Langdale campsite secured the top position with 28% of the votes, followed by Watermouth Valley in Devon at 19%, Red Squirrel in Glencoe, Scotland at 18%, and Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park at 17%. The Duchess’s Meadow in the Peak District and Cloud Farm in Devon both garnered 14% of the votes.
Approximately 25% of the participants regarded Britain as the best camping destination globally. The key attractions cited for camping in the UK included reconnecting with nature (45%), exploring more of the UK (44%), spending quality time with family (37%), and saving money (33%).
Other appealing aspects of camping included escaping from the daily routine (31%), seeking peace and tranquility (29%), enjoying the outdoors (23%), stargazing (21%), and waking up to the sound of bird chirps (19%).
George Wallis, representing Isuzu UK, the organization behind the survey, commented on the results, emphasizing the beauty of the UK as a camping destination. He noted that the country’s natural splendor continues to allure individuals seeking remote getaways, highlighting the timeless appeal of exploring the UK’s scenic locations.
