Videos captured individuals in distress, shouting for assistance as the rushing water knocked them down, making it difficult for them to stand up.
Despite lasting only about 20 minutes, the storm caused widespread chaos in the city and its vicinity. Emergency services received 110 flood-related calls concerning water seepage in garages and basements.
In one striking image, a man was seen being carried along a city street past a stationary car with its windshield wipers operating at full speed.
The intense storm upheaved paving stones and inundated outdoor seating areas of cafes and bars, where people had been enjoying the sunshine just the day before.
As of the following morning, it remained uncertain whether there were any injuries resulting from the event.
