McDonald’s in Australia is set to increase the price of its popular “cost-of-living” meal, signaling the end of its price guarantee. The McSmart Meal, introduced in June 2024, includes a Cheeseburger, Small Fries, Small Soft Drink, and a choice of side for AUD6.95.
Despite concerns sparked by rumors in April suggesting the meal would be removed from menus by the end of June, McDonald’s Australia, affectionately known as Macca’s, has confirmed that the McSmart Meal will continue to be available. However, starting July 1, the price will go up by one dollar.
Joe Chiczewski, CEO of McDonald’s Australia, expressed that while the 12-month price guarantee on the McSmart Meal will end on June 30, their commitment to providing value remains unchanged. The updated AUD7.95 deal now offers customers a Cheeseburger or Chicken ‘n’ Cheese with Small Fries, a Small Soft Drink, and a choice of side options such as Chicken McNuggets, Hash Brown, Hot Apple Pie, or Cookies.
Additionally, McDonald’s has expanded the McSmart range with two new options. The “McSmart Plus” includes a McDouble, Small Fries, Small Soft Drink, and a choice of side for AUD9.95, while the “McSmart Saver” can be exclusively accessed through the MyMacca’s app for AUD6.95, featuring a Hamburger, Small Fries, Small Soft Drink, and 3-piece Chicken McNuggets.
With these new offerings and the assurance of the McSmart Meal remaining on the menu, McDonald’s hopes to receive positive feedback from its customers.
