A man in Greenock, Scotland, has been facing a relentless two-week battle with a swarm of wasps that invaded his top-floor flat, putting him and his pets at risk of repeated stings. Craig McDonald, 38, shared his distress over the insects taking over his bedroom, making it inaccessible to him and his animals due to the constant threat of attacks.
Expressing disappointment in his landlord, Craig criticized Oak Tree Housing Association for neglecting the situation and downplaying the severity of the wasp infestation. Despite the onset of peak wasp season, the housing association allegedly dismissed the existence of a nest, leaving Craig and his pets vulnerable to the aggressive insects.
The troublesome situation has severely impacted Craig’s well-being, depriving him of proper sleep for over 10 days as the wasps continue to pose a threat. Despite attempts by pest control to address the issue, the nest remains intact, forcing Craig to consider vacating his home until the infestation is resolved.
The infestation coincides with the peak season for wasps, a period between April and October when these insects are most active in building nests and multiplying. The warm weather conditions, particularly during heatwaves, further stimulate their activity and movement, exacerbating the infestation.
In response to the escalating problem, Oak Tree Housing assured that they are actively addressing Mr. McDonald’s concerns to reach a swift resolution. However, Craig emphasized the urgency of the matter, stressing the health hazards posed by the stings and the distress caused to his pets by the ongoing ordeal.
